Introduction of International Collaborations

Background

The National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (hereinafter referred to as NCDR), designed as an all-hazards-approach institute, widely covers topics related to hydro-metrological hazards, geological hazards, potential hazard maps, social vulnerabilities analysis, remote sensing, climate change, policy suggestions and development of a decision supporting system, the NCDR innovates science and technology on providing comprehensive and integrated solutions for building disaster resilience and enhancing emergency preparedness by engaging interdisciplinary teamwork with central and local governments, academia,  communities, business sector and NGOs.
The mission of the International Collaborations of NCDR aims to be one of the benchmarking institutions in disaster risk reduction with worldwide outreach. Thus, NCDR is the contact window of APEC EPWG, the focal contact point of the Emergency Response Coordination Centre, the advisor of the Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institute (GADRI), etc., to engage collaborations by offering action-based capacity building and preparedness on natural hazards and disasters with public and private partnership and participation. NCDR’s international partnerships include the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Pacific Disaster Center (PDC), Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) of Kyoto University, UN, APEC, the Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC), the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), the International Council for Science (ICSU) - Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), University of National and World Economy(UNWE), Manila Observatory(MO), National Resilience Council of Philippines(NRC), Iloilo City, six citys of Nepal, Rabdan Academy(RA) of Abu Dhabi, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience of Japan (NIED), Viet Nam Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment(HUNRE), TaiwanICDF, Palau National Emergency Management Office, Asian Institute of Technology(AIT), the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance(CFE-DM), and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee(IIT Roorkee). 

Collaboration with Other Units
