2016 International Training Workshop for Natural Disaster Reduction - Natural Disaster Risk Modeling and Applications

2016.09.26
The 2016 International Training Workshop on Natural Disaster Reduction –Natural Disaster Risk Modeling and Applications will take place in the International Conference Hall, National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (15F, No.200, Sec. 3, Beisin Rd., Sindian City, New Taipei City, Taiwan) from 26th – 30th September, 2016. In March 2015, the United Nations has issued “The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030”, which includes seven global goals, four prior tasks and their actions of disaster risk reduction for next 15 years. It especially articulates and calls on to enhance the disk risk understanding, governance and management including inter-governments and inter-institutes on regional level; and to strength international cooperation and global partnership. To echo the key actions in The Sendai Framework, Taiwan adopts “Natural Disaster Risk Modeling and Applications” as its main theme and holds a well-structured 5-day training workshop in Taipei to share the experience of risk modelling on geologic, hydrological and meteorological disasters with its participants. Meanwhile, the applications of these modellings on risk reduction planning, critical infrastructure protection, business continuity management and disaster insurance will also be introduced in the workshop. The workshop is defined as an annual event hosted by National Science and Technology for Disaster Reduction under Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan. Researchers, disaster managers, emergency responders and government officials and practitioners are the target audiences in attending the workshop. We will not only share Taiwan’s experiences with the participants but also learn from other countries to enhance Taiwan’s capabilities on disaster modelling and risk reduction application.
